Floppy Arm Telekinesis - Prototype 2 Devlog

Ideation
The prompt for this prototype was "Corrupted Vision". The ideation process for this prototype was essentially the same as last time. This time however, I was able to incorporate feedback and suggestions from the previous prototype into my ideation process for this prototype. A common suggestion I heard from the playtesters was to add multiplayer so that was what I centred my ideas around, in addition to the prompt. I came up with a few ideas that would be very interesting to try and prototype. One such idea was an Olympic style game using the movement system from the last prototype. The game would consist of multiple players competing for gold in various different sports like football, hurdles, long jump, etc. I really like this concept and I hope I can revisit for the next prototype. Another Idea I had was a Fall Guys/Crab Game type of game where multiple players compete in various minigames, often involving platforming and parkour. This idea is very similar to the Olympic idea and I might try combine the two. The idea I went up going for was a sort of fighting game. Players compete to try and knock eachother off the platform. I chose this idea for my prototype because I thought it would allow me to develop player interactions more. I thought this was important to do before adding the aspects of the game.
Question
Can I make a multiplayer game using the previous prototype's movement system with a lot of interactivity between players?
Prototype
The main bulk of work for this prototype was implementing in multiplayer. As I was already using Unity's *new and improved* input system, adding multiplayer was relatively painless. There were still some issues I faced and I've yet to fix all of them. If the player disconnects a controller for example, then the game would need to be reset. These things will be ironed out for the next prototype. After adding multiplayer, I added a knockback effect to players if they get hit by the other player. I changed some controls around aswell to help with the fighting aspect.

Ideation
The prompt for the second prototype is "Corrupted Vision". For the ideation for this prototype I had to think outside the box, I had to completely change the ideation of what I originally had in my head for this prototype. So I started to think of ways that I could go that I really didn't think of before then it came to me, what if instead of the player walking up to the wall and wall running I could make the wall's come to the player? I thought of a telekinesis idea something that I never had thought of before, when this idea came to me I thought it would perfectly fit this week prompt. So for the telekinesis, the original way telekinesis usually works is you pick up the object and throw it that's it, I wanted to make this my own version of telekinesis so I decided that when you pick up the object and throw it the object would freeze mid-air to make a kind of wall/platform the player can wall run or stand on. After I had finished with the telekinesis mechanic I wanted to fix bugs I had on the first prototype, Last week we had an playtest for are first prototype. This playtest helped me with not only my prototype but helped me with more idea's, more paths that I can go with my game. In the playtest I found out a lot of information that I can apply to help with my prototype, for the majority of the playtest people really liked my prototype. The only real feedback I got was to change the key blinds for some of my wall run mechanic's because I was to awkward to press while wall running which I did change and now its more comfortable to press them. The other things that I personally noticed that I had to change was some small bugs like making sure the player camera doesn't go into wall's, stuff like that.
Question
Can I make a system where instead of the player having to approach the wall to wall run them, I could make the wall come to the player?
Prototype
In this prototype I was able to get the answer that I set out to get, Can I make a system where instead of the player having to approach the wall to wall run them, I could make the wall come to the player? Most of the work I spent this week was to get the telekinesis in a working manner. The challenging part of the telekinesis was to able to make it pick up the object and release it and when it is released the said object would stay frozen in the air. My initial goals for this project is to make a game that is fun, make to a game that is unique and to also make a game that I would have to go out of my comfort zone to be able to make the game. So far my prototype a line with my goals which makes each week of this project more enjoyable for me.
